Abstract

The invention refers to novel compounds (e.g., peptides) that are useful in the treatment of pain. The compounds are useful in treating both chronic and acute pain. The peptides can act as analgesics and/or anti-nociceptive agents. According to an embodiment, the invention refers to an isolated peptide that comprises an amino acid sequence that is at least 70% identical to the 14 amino acid sequence: pGlu-Phe-Ser-Pro-Glu-Asn-Ala-Gln-Gly-Glu-Ser-Gln-Pro-Ala (SEQ ID NO:2).
