Abstract

The present invention relates to novel compounds (e.g., peptides) for the treatment of pain. The compounds can be used to treat chronic pain and acute pain. The peptides can be used as analgesics and/or antinociceptive drugs. According to one embodiment, the present invention relates to an isolated peptide comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 70% identity to the following 14 amino acid sequence: pGlu-Phe-Ser-Pro-Glu-Asn-Ala-Gln-Gly-Glu-Ser-Gln-Pro-Ala (SEQ ID NO: 2).
