I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Federal University of Pará (1996), a master's degree in Psychology - Theory and Behavior Research from the Federal University of Pará (2000), a Ph.D. (2004), and a post-doctoral degree in Psychobiology (2009, 2011) from the University of S. Paulo. I am currently a full professor at the Franca Municipal University Center, where I teach Human Biology I, II, and Psychopharmacology as part of the undergraduate Psychology course and The Impact of Drug Abuse in Society as part of the post-graduate Regional Development course. In addition, I am an Accredited Researcher with the Department of Psychology and Education - Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences, and Letters of Ribeiro Preto, University of So Paulo, where I guide post-graduate students in my own lab and minister the disciplines Psychobiology of Anxiety Disorders and Neurobiology of Drug Abuse. I have worked in the primary areas of experimental psychology, psychobiology, and neuropsychopharmacology, with a focus on organ and system physiology, mental health, and behavior. I conduct research in the following areas: Basic psychobiological aspects of drug abuse, as well as the neurobiology of fear and anxiety, with a focus on the following topics: learning and memory, drug withdrawal, mood and emotion, psychotropic drugs, electrophysiology, and central nervous system pharmacology. I am an invited reviewer for a number of high-quality journals, including the Journal of Neurobiology, Brain Research, European Journal of Pharmacology, European Journal of Neuroscience, International Journal of Psychology, Life Sciences, Amino Acids, Pharmacological Reports, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Biochemistry & Behavior, Developmental Psychobiology, and PLOS ONE, among others.
