Veterinarian graduated by the Universidade de São Paulo. Master's and PhD in Epidemiology and One Health from the University of São Paulo. He is currently an Associate Professor at FMVZ-USP, responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He collaborates with the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply and the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change in drawing up public policies at the federal, state and municipal levels. He currently works in the area of biodiversity conservation, especially the mitigation of threats, whether due to biological invasion, transmission of pathogens and parasites or environmental changes. He is the coordinator of the National Biodiversity Biorepository (BIONABIO), a collaborative network of actors involved with fauna, with the aim of promoting the surveillance of emerging pathogens and the prevention of new pandemics.
