Heloísa de Araújo Duarte Valente is a PhD in Communication and Semiotics, with the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), with an internship at the School of High Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS, Paris) and post-doctoral studies at the Department of Cinema, Radio and Television (CTR/ ECA-USP). Studies the relations between music, culture and media in the interdisciplinary areas of communication, semiotics of culture and music. Among the publications, in addition to several articles published in specialized journals, are: The voices songs: between noise and silence (São Paulo: Annablume, 1999); The voices of the song in the media (Via Lettera/FAPESP, 2003). Organized and co-organized more than a dozen books resulting from research projects derived from the project-matrix A canção das mídias: memória e nomadismo. Founded the Center for Studies in Music and Media (MusiMid), with which develops research projects. She is the idealizer and responsible for the organization of the Music and Media Meetings (2005-). Full professor at the Graduate Program and Media Culture of the Universidade Paulista (UNIP) and collaborator in PPG Arts, Culture and Languages/ Music and Sound Languages (UFJF). Professor and researcher in the Graduate Program in Music at the University of São Paulo (PPGMUS, 2008-2022); lecturer in the Masters Degree in Public Policies at the University of Mogi das Cruzes (UMC, 2011-2015) and as a visiting professor at the Universities of Mexico (2002), from Aveiro (2010) and National of Uruguay (2014). Member of the Editorial Board in journals in the mentioned areas, he advises ad hoc with research funding agencies, conferences and specialized publications. Member of the board (editor) of the Latin American Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM-AL), (2014-2016; 2016-2018). Member of the GRIMCEL Group (University of Oviedo, Spain); Caravelas - Study Center for the History of Luso-Brazilian Music (CESEM, FCSH-UNL). Researcher in the research group Brazilian music: text, context, practices and modes of diffusion (UNB). Editor-in-chief of the Brazilian Journal of Studies in Music and Media.
