Cláudio Marinho is a Full Professor in the Department of Parasitology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (ICB-USP). He holds a degree in Biological Sciences, a Masters and PhD in Immunology from USP, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science (Portugal). He earned his Habilitation (Livre-Docência) in 2018. His scientific output includes over 100 publications in internationally recognized journals, with a focus on the immunopathological mechanisms of malaria, particularly in contexts such as pregnancy. Since 2009, he has served on the editorial board of PLOS ONE. He serves as a peer reviewer for over 20 scientific journals, including Malaria Journal, Infection and Immunity, Scientific Reports, and The Lancet Infectious Diseases. He also serves as an ad hoc consultant for various national and international funding agencies, such as FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES, Fiocruz, FAPEAM, FAPEMA, FAPEB, and the UK Medical Research Council (MRC). In the field of human resource development, he has supervised and mentored over 40 researchers, including Masters students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral fellows, demonstrating a strong commitment to the ethical, critical, and scientific training of new generations of scientists. He has held key academic leadership roles at ICB, including chairing the Research and Innovation Committee, Faculty Board, Central Animal Facility Committee, and the Office for Good Scientific Practices. He is currently Head of the Department of Parasitology and serves as ICBs representative on the University of São Paulos University Council.
