Cláudio Marinho is a Full Professor in the Department of Parasitology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of USP (ICB-USP). A biologist with master's and doctoral degrees in Immunology from USP, he completed postdoctoral studies at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science (Portugal) and obtained the title of Associate Professor in 2018. His scientific output includes more than 100 articles in international journals, focusing on the immunopathological mechanisms of malaria, especially during pregnancy. He has been an editor of PLOS ONE since 2009 and a reviewer for more than 20 journals, including Malaria Journal, Infection and Immunity, Scientific Reports, and The Lancet Infectious Diseases. He serves as an ad hoc consultant to national and international agencies, including FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES, Fiocruz, FAPEAM, FAPEMA, FAPEB, and MRC (United Kingdom). He has supervised and mentored more than 40 researchers at the master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels. He held management positions at ICB, including chairing the Research and Innovation Committee, the Faculty Committee, the Central Animal Facility Committee, and the Office of Good Scientific Practices, and was head and deputy head of the Department of Parasitology for 8 years.
