Arlene G. Corrêa received her Ph.D. from the Federal University of São Carlos (1991) under the supervision of Professor Timothy J. Brocksom, with a sandwich program at University of Grenoble with Professor Andrew E. Greene. Then she completed her postdoctoral trainings with Professor Paul A. Wender (Stanford University, CA, 1997). She is a Full Professor in Department of Chemistry at the University Federal of São Carlos, and was the head of the Department (2009-2013). Her research interest on medicinal chemistry is the synthesis of bioactive natural products and analogs, employing combinatorial technologies and green chemistry, with potential application on the treatment of tropical diseases. Her group has also contributed in chemical ecology with the isolation, identification and synthesis of insect pheromones. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, member of the Brazilian Chemical Society and American Chemical Society. She is the director of the Centre of Excellence for Research in Sustainable Chemistry and coordinate the project Materials in Sustainable Process and Products of the Embrapii-UFSCar Unit on Advanced Materials. She received the BMOS (2024) and the ACS-SBQ Brazilian Women in Chemistry Awards (2025). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
