Visiting professor at the Universidad de la Republica (Uruguay) in 2010, at the Sichuan University of Foreign Studies (2015), at the Universitè de Lille (France) in 2019 and at the University of Évora (2021). She studies themes related to intercultural contact in terms of cognition and language in border regions. Leader of the research group "Language and Cognition" with outstanding production in the study of the relationship between linguistic uses and cognitive processes. She is a member of the multinational Research Group "LP in the World". Associate of the Linguistic Society of America, the Brazilian Association of Linguistics, ALFAL, AOTP and the International Association of Portuguese Linguistics, of which she has been second secretary since 2010 (from 2010-2014 with management in Macao SAR-China) and in second term as first secretary since 2015 (from 2015-2019 with management in Portugal).
