Francisco A. Rodrigues is a full professor at the Institute of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at the University of São Paulo (ICMC-USP), working in the areas of Complex Systems and Data Science. He is currently head of the Department of Applied Mathematics. He is editor of the journals Chaos, Solitons and Fractals (Elsevier), Journal of Computational Science (Elsevier), New Journal of Physics (IOP Publishing), Journal of Complex Networks, and co-editor of Europhysics Letters. He also serves as associate editor of the Journal of Physics: Complexity (IOP Publishing). He has published more than 150 articles in international scientific journals, which have received more than 10,000 citations (h-index 42). He was president of the ICMC Research Commission for two terms and is an advisor in the Graduate Programs in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics (ICMC), Physics (IFSC), and Statistics (ICMC-UFSCar), at the master's and doctoral levels. He is currently head of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics. He was a visiting professor at the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) between 2018 and 2019, with funding from the Leverhulme Trust. He was a short-term visiting researcher at the University of Zaragoza (Spain), the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (Germany), and the Complexity Science Hub Vienna (Austria). He also served as a visiting professor at the Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and the University of Zaragoza. His areas of teaching include Complex Networks, Statistics, Stochastic Processes, Machine Learning, Causality, and Data Science. He is the author of the book An Introduction to Multiplex Networks: Basic Formalism and Structural Properties, published by Springer in 2018. In 2023 and 2024, he was included in Elsevier's list of the 2 most influential scientists in the world. In 2025, he received the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
