João Paulo dos Santos Fernandes holds a BS in Pharmacy from Guarulhos University (2003). He got his MSc degree at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of São Paulo (2006) in #8203;#8203;Medicinal Chemistry, working on prodrugs with tuberculostatic activity, and his PhD degree in the same University (FCF / USP - 2012) working on synthesis and development of histaminergic and serotonin receptor ligands. He has worked in several universities in São Paulo, and currently is full-time professor at Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), dedicated to Medicinal Chemistry in the Pharmacy course as well as graduate programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Translational Medicine.Develops research projects with design, synthesis and evaluation of novel bioactive compounds in the central nervous system, inflammatory and infectious/neglected diseases. Member of the European Histamine Research Society (EHRS) and Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF). He is referee of several international journals and member of the editorial board of the journals Pharmaceutics and Journal of Tuberculosis Research. He heads the group of Synthesis of Bioactive Molecules (SiMBio), from the Laboratory of Natural and Synthetic Inputs (LINS) of UNIFESP. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
