I'm a professor of the Department of Anthropology at UNICAMP (public university of the state of São Paulo), Researcher PQ2 of CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) and visiting resaerch at Jackson School of International Studies - University of Washington. I develop research on indigenous and black communities. My issues of work are ethnology, ethnicity, memory, education, territory, and mobility. My anthropological work is in the interface with History, Demography, and Law. I have a bachelor degree in History (UFF), Master degree and Doctorate in Social Anthropology at the National Museum (UFRJ). I was a researcher at Brazilian Center of Análises and Planning (CEBRAP, 2003-2006) and prof. at the Ph.D. program of Education at 'Pontifíca Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro' (PUC-Rio, 2007-2011), where I coordinated the Laboratory of Anthropology of Formation Processes. In 2006, I published the book "Mocambo - Antropologia e história do processo de formação quilombola" ["Mocambo - Anthropology and History of the Quilombola Formation Process"] (awarded for the Ford Foundation & CEAB and for National Association for Research in Social Science - ANPOCS). Currently, I'm a member at the Center for Research in Indigenous Ethnology (CPEI), at the Center for Rural Studies (CERES), where I coordinate the Research Laboratory with African American Traditional Peoples (LAPA) and at the Jackson School of International Studies da University of Washington.
