Birthplace: Brazil

A highly qualified professional with a Ph.D. in Sciences (University of São Paulo, 2019, honorable mention), building upon an M.Sc. in Genetics and Molecular Biology (Bioinformatics emphasis) and a Bachelor's in Computer Science (2004). For over 15 years, I have contributed to and led strategic, large-scale projects as a Software Engineer, Project Manager, Consultant, Researcher, and Bioinformatician across IT, Health, Diagnostic Medicine, Innovation, and Research in Brazil, Australia, Africa, the UK, and the USA. My work has focused on leveraging genomics and a One Health perspective for integrated health surveillance, particularly concerning WHO priority microorganisms, Malaria, dengue, and AMR, enabling the identification of transmission dynamics and potential hotspots. Notably, I contributed to insecticide resistance monitoring in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo using GWAS to identify new biomarkers. My recent work includes the design and development of web platforms like OneBR, TyphiNET, and AMRnet to enhance genomic surveillance. Throughout my career, I have also served as a Professor, sharing my knowledge and expertise with the next generation. My technical expertise encompasses NVIDIA GPU knowledge, international certifications in DevOps (AWS, Azure, and GCP), full-stack development, Data Science ML, and IBM data engineering. Furthermore, I hold certifications as a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Cisco Certified Cybersecurity Associate, Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Enterprise Infrastructure, PMI, and Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP). I am also a polyglot, fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Japanese. Currently, residing in Belém, I am the Lead Software Engineer at the London School of Hygiene Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and actively engaged as a COP30 Committee Member (SESMA working group) and hold the positions of Director of the Epidemiology Reference Centre of Belém and Director of the Centre for Data Science and Technological Innovation in Health. My current focus is on improving AMRnet and creating new web platforms that integrate diverse data sources using emerging technologies, alongside automated bioinformatics pipelines for multiomics data analysis aligned with FAIR principles and the UN 2030 Agenda SDGs.
