She was graduated in Pharmacy-Biochemistry at Universidade de São Paulo, and received her Ph.D. degree in Psychobiology from Universidade Federal de São Paulo. She was a postdoctoral researcher at "Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center" at University California, San Francisco. She is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Universidade de São Paulo and deputy-chief of the Department of Pharmacology. She is the current President of the International Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA). She was President of the Latin American Society for Biomedical Research in Alcoholism - LASBRA (Latin American Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism) between 2008 and 2013. In 2014, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA Board of Directors), having been elected Vice President Jr. of ISBRA in 2016 (2016-2018) and served as Senior Vice President ( 2018-2020). From 2013 2017, she was the Chair of the Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program of the Department of Pharmacology of the ICB -USP. Dr. Camarini has experience in the area of Neuropsychopharmacology, focusing on drug addiction, and acting on the following topics: the long-lasting effects of ethanol or cocaine treatment during brain development; the effects of environmental manipulations (enrichment/stress) in substance use disorder (SUD); effects of environmental manipulations in patients with SUD.
