Abstract
The problem of décadence was, as Nietzsche claims, in 1888, the one which occupied the center of his philosophical life. From 1883 on the philosopher develops, with a direct influence of the literary critic Paul Bourget and some French writers as Baudelaire, Flaubert and Goncourt, a « theory of décadence » which will be finally reached in "The case of Wagner".
