Holds a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of São Paulo (1998), a specialization in Neuropsychology from the Neurology Division of FM-USP, a masters degree in Psychology (Experimental Psychology) from the University of São Paulo (2004), and a PhD in Psychology (Neuroscience and Behavior) from the University of São Paulo (2007). He coordinates the Cognitive and Social Neuroscience Laboratory. He is a Full Professor in the Graduate Program in Human Developmental Sciences and in the Psychology program at UPM. He serves as an area manager (Social Sciences) at FAPESP. He coordinated the FAPESP São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Social and Affective Neuroscience. He is the coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Social and Affective Neuroscience (CNPq). In 2011, he was elected an Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (20112015). He is a Full Member of the São Paulo Academy of Psychology and the Brazilian Academy of Neuropsychology. He holds a CNPq Research Productivity Fellowship (Level 1B). He is Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Social Neuroscience and Associate Editor of the international journals Current Directions in Psychological Science and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. His research experience is in Psychology, with an emphasis on Cognitive, Social, and Affective Neuroscience. He has expertise in non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, high-density electroencephalography, functional near-infrared spectroscopy neuroimaging, among other methods.
