Abstract

Space division multiplexing is a promising solution, which has been proposed for elastic optical networks to deal with the anticipated exhaustion of the capacity of single core networks. This letter introduces the PERFECTA algorithm, a novel algorithm to provide failure-independent path protecting p-cycle for path protection in elastic optical networks using modulation and space division multiplexing.
