Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research is to understand the constitution and functioning of Institutional Program of Initiatives for Teaching (Pibid, in Portuguese), in particular, the education of future teachers promoted in four subprojects of this Program linked to Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics of a public university and discuss the contributions, contradictions and limits of the Program for teacher education and for its curriculum, specially for supervised internship, a formal locus of education for all future teachers. The subjects interviewed highlight the potential of the joint work between school and university for the formation of teachers, in which the pedagogically guided encounter between people from different contexts is capable of producing important formative experiences. However, despite the fact that the Pibid is recognized for its positive aspects, such construction is possible with the negative characterization of initial teacher education courses. (AU)
