Abstract

This paper presents a series and parallel active power compensation strategy to produce the harmonic current references applied to the series converter control loop in single-phase unified power quality conditioners (UPQC) using multi-level converters ANPC 5 levels. In this proposal, we select specific harmonic components to be suppressed. Additionally, this strategy is based on the artificial neural network algorithm, and it uses the adaline network to calculate the synaptic vector of weights. In this context, the algorithm is responsible to obtain the coefficients of the Fourier series for adaptive harmonic selection by means of delta rule, as well. In order to validate the theoretical development, the results of simulations are presented considering the utility grid with disturbances. (AU)
