Abstract

The purpose of this project is to study the reuse of liquid and solid waste (washing wastewater, açaí waste, brewer´s spent grains, straws, fruit husks, corn) from the food industry through the development of an integrated system of treatment and analysis using the Supercritical and Anaerobic Digestion Technologies. Supercritical Technology uses water as a solvent or reaction medium, being a clean and sustainable process due to the properties of water under sub/supercritical conditions of temperature and pressure. On the other hand, anaerobic digestion technology can be applied for reuse, treatment and recovery of water and waste while generating biogás (bio-hydrogen/methane). In order to evaluate the integration of these technologies it is proposed the construction of an experimental unit composed by two reactors, hydrolysis in subcritical water followed by an anaerobic digestion reactor, which will allow the study of the operational parameters, hydrolyzate yield, gas composition and techno-economic aspects and life cycle. The innovation of this project is in the coupling of a sugar detector in order to obtain a high quality final hydrolyzate that will be fermented for the production of 2G ethanol and the inedited publication of the main properties of the coal resulting from the process as a filter for processes that require large selectivity of compounds. On the other hand, depending on the liquid or solid residue, the digestion reactor will also innovate by working in line with the hydrolysis reactor to produce biogas in the case of lignocellulosic waste. In this way, the project proposes an experimental unit capable of realizing processes of valorization and treatment of technologies independently or in an integrated way. The by-products obtained will be techno-economically evaluated for the production of biofuels (2G ethanol) and high added-value biochar, as well as for the production of a biogas rich in biohydrogen and/or methane. It is intended to develop a process capable of valorizing wastewater and organic and lignocellulosic waste, while obtaining end products of high added value, in addition to producing bioenergy, relevant when considering the sustainable development of industries and cities, diversification of the network energy, promoting research with innovation and generating knowledge by combining biochemical conversion and energy routes.
