Abstract

The work of Professor Uffe Jankvist is related to some of the specific problems of attention in projects elaborated by FAPESP (2016/22557-5) of which the applicant is responsible.Frequently, when we attend a congress, or we read some from the area of Teacher Training we hear/say that teacher training (initial and continuing research) has much to gain from the inclusion of aspects of the History of Mathematics and Education Mathematics as a research component and as an explicit element in teacher training. However, these comments and the potentialities listed in the articles are due to the generalities, as they are only those theoretical potentialities, but can be explicitly narrated as ways of communicating with these potentialities to become reality. In the same line, but with the point of attack on the opposite side, in the congresses and magazines of History of Mathematics and Mathematics Education, some of the centralized discussions about teacher training that take into account this issue, but also is not listed, there is no specific element that could contribute to its inclusion. As this articulation is one of the aspects of the teacher's knowledge - both specialized and interpretive - and since this is also one of the areas of work of the visiting professor, his stay will certainly be an important contribution to the discussions that take place. In one of the research projects (in which the applicant is the responsible researcher), the aim is to obtain a broader understanding of the teacher's specialized knowledge in Geometry and, in this process, it is central to the elaboration of tasks for teacher training. One of the particular aspects of these tasks is that it considers components both for the students and specifically to discuss the teacher's knowledge and, in this sense, the inclusion of aspects associated with a Historical view (of Mathematics and Mathematics Education) - both as content and methodology - will be an important element so that teachers can stop teaching how they were taught. In this sense, Professor Uffe Jankvist will participate in the discussions in the context of a Specialization in Mathematics Education and of an extension course in Geometry (one of the contexts contemplated in the FAPESP project) dynamized in the Faculty of Education (these discussions will also be translated from English to the Portuguese), so that the participants of the course can also have contact with other researchers and other visions the relationship between research and training. In addition to the discussions focused on the knowledge of the teacher aligned with the research projects, Uffe Jankvist's participation in two seminars of the PECIM and PPGE graduate programs will be of the utmost importance since some post-graduate students are doing their work in the scope of the History of Mathematics and some of the publications of this professor are central references of these works. It should be noted that this participation will also be open to other elements of the community (the seminars will be open to the public and there will also be some workshops that will allow a greater approximation with the school practice).
