Recurrence, entropy and application in rumors.

Abstract

Two are the main objectives of this project. On the one hand, analyze recurrence properties that may be related to the entropy of a stochastic process and on the other hand, apply the concept of empirical entropy to study a model of dissemination of rumors with distortion. Because of this, we present two subprojects: the first one is entitled Recurrence and entropy and the second Stochastic modelling of rumors using entropy. In recurrence and entropy, we intend to study properties of the first possible return time of a word on all the realizations of a mixing process without complete grammar and to relate it to the entropy of the process. Recently, the paper \cite{AbRa} has dealt with this subject under the hypothesis of complete grammar. In stochastic modelling of rumors using entropy, we present models for the dissemination of rumors when the person who knows the rumor can distort the information before transmitting the message and the person who hears the rumor can decide whether or not to accept the information depending on the confidence he has in the informant.
