Abstract

This research project aims to know the proposal and actions of Mediation in public schools in Brazil and Spain. Another objective is to know the conception of education in human rights and citizenship, as well as to verify if gender is present in the proposal of Mediation in the States of São Paulo, Pernambuco and, in Spain, Valencia and Barcelona. The research will be carried out in continuity in state public schools, in Marilia (SP), in the city of São Paulo and in Valencia (ES). In this year 2019, we will continue the observations in Marília, São Paulo and Valencia (ES) and investigate how the Mediation is structured and being developed in Recife (PE) and Barcelona (ES). We intend to investigate whether and how the school community, in its Political Pedagogical Project, approaches the themes and refers to the National Human Rights Education Plan of 2006, and the National Curricular Guidelines for Human Rights Education, 2012, in the case of Brazilian schools. In Spain, the national, local documents and the schools participating in the research. We also intend to verify if the schools have projects in development related to the subjects of the study and what are the occurrences that have higher incidence in these schools to verify if they are related to gender or sexual diversity. The schools will be selected by the criterion of having the professional responsible for Mediation and, in the case of Spanish schools, also the ones that have the Equality Agent. In this way, we chose to conduct a qualitative research, due to the possibility of approaching the specific characteristics of each School Unit. For its accomplishment we will make use of the following methodological instruments: documentary research, bibliographical research, semi-structured interviews and observation in the daily life of the schools. We will have Mediators and students as respondents. As for the documentary research, we will read and analyze the Political Pedagogical Project and institutional documents that refer to the official curriculum, as well as those that refer to the attributions of mediation in schools of the two countries.
