Abstract

This project aims to support and consolidate the collaborative research between the Physics Department of theUniversidade Federal de Pernambuco (DF-UFPE, Recife), the Physics Department of FFCLRP of the Universidadede São Paulo (USP, Ribeirão Preto), and the Center for Mathematics, Computation and Cognition from Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC, São Bernardo do Campo, SP). The research we have been developping has four main topics: i) Criticality in the brain ii) Cortical dynamics iii) Anticipated synchronization and iv) Computational Psyquiatry. In the first three topics we use computational models, data analysis and experiments based on extracellular recordings with multielectrode arrays, combining efforts in both theory and experiments. In the fourth topic, we bring tecniques from statistical physics and complex networks to the speech analysis of psycotic patients. We show that it is possible to help the diagnosis of psychiatric disorders with the development of quantitative indicators based only on the speech. This proposal aims to reinforce the necessary infrastructure for this kind of research, including resourses for boosting the storage of computational cluster and massive electrophysiological data, consumables for laboratory, services (imports and publication costs), among others. A crucial part of the funding is to promote research interchanges between researchers and students of the two states. (AU)
