Abstract

This proposal has a twofold aim: it wants to increase, on the one hand, theoretical activities in São Paulo related to physics at the Facility for Antiprotons and Ion Research, on the other hand, it serves to set up an experimental collaboration with one São Paulo participant formally joining the PANDA collaboration at FAIR. The theory groups in São Paulo and Germany have close interests in nonperturbative and effective theory approaches to QCD and have long worked in PANDA related fields. They are both strongly interested in the upcoming Science program and experimental projects of the PANDA collaboration and aim at making predictions to guide experimentalists as well as at obtaining their feedback for future calculations. Experimentalists benefit from closer collaboration with these theorists, though the main benefit will be the complementary competences in detector developments for the FAIR experiments and the development of detector simulations of the São Paulo and German groups. The collaboration is intended to be long term and help São Paulo set a foot in one of the most promising and world-leading accelerator facilities of the years 2020 to 2030. (AU)
