Abstract

The multiuser infrared spectroscopy equipment FTIR is linked to the FAPESP Thematic Project - Process 2014 / 21252-0, under responsibility of Prof. Dr. Antonio José de Almeida Meirelles. In the scope of the FAPESP Thematic Project, the FTIR equipment will be used: i) for characterization analysis of ionic liquids (ILs) in order to determine the effectiveness of the synthesis and also to confirm the structures formed; ii) to monitor the chemical stability of ILs during their storage, application in aqueous media or after their use in extraction processes; iii) to confirm, indirectly, the existence of hydrogen bonds between both components of a mixtures (usually a quaternary ammonium salt with a hydrogen bond donor), which guarantees the formation of Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES); iv) to compare the extraction processes using DES and/or another solvent, evaluating the spectra of the raffinates and the extraction potential; v) characterization of the ion exchange resins used for vegetable oil deacidification and/or transesterification, at different stages of the processes.
