Abstract

The main objective of the research is to identify critical factors to increase the competitiveness of productive chains based on biodiversity in the State of Amazonas, especially those with high consumption potential in the State of São Paulo. The components of the production chains will be analyzed locally. The inhibiting and propelling factors for high performance will be identified, and solutions to the identified problems proposed. This is a descriptive-exploratory study is based on the principles of action research. A multiple case study will be used, considering four units of analysis - the pirarucu, açaí, cocoa and Brazil nut chains. At the conclusion of the research, public policy recommendations for job and income generation, food security and citizenship education will be prioritized. The knowledge acquired, including technology forecasting and assessment, will be disseminated through printed (book and articles) and digital (website and videos) media. The systematization of cases will identify current and innovative business practices and propose replicable frameworks in other sectoral chains. These frameworks will include metrics for monitoring the governance of production chain components and articulation. In order to obtain results and generate impact, stakeholders from public and private entities will be engaged throughout the research in an advisory council on the design, conduct, dissemination and monitoring of the empirical results.
