Abstract

The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) - Sympathetic and Parasympathetic - plays a role in the physiopathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. Overall, there is a Sympathetic Overactivity contrasting with the Attenuation of Parasympathetic Function. It has also been demonstrated an interaction between the ANS and the Immune Systems (Innate and Adaptive), despite the mechanisms involved require more conspicuous examination. Besides, the interaction between the ANS and the Immune Systems (Innate and Adaptive) in the physiopathogenesis of Stomatitis and Periodontitis remains uncertain. To develop Experimental (Myocardial Infarction, Arterial Hypertension, Heart Failure, Periodontitis, and Stomatitis) and Clinical (Periodontitis and Stomatitis) protocols, with the purpose to better characterize the interaction of the ANS and the Immune Systems (Innate and Adaptive), and their causal relationship. Experimentally, it will be used rats (Wistar, Sprague-Dawley and Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats (SHR) and mice with attenuation (VAChT KD) or overexpression (Super VAChT) of the vesicular acetylcholine transporter. Clinically, it will be studied Patients with Periodontitis or Stomatitis. (AU)
