Evaluate the healing of implant placement in animals with systemic impairment (alendronate and obesity)

Abstract

The aim of this project is to evaluate the systemic condition (use of alendronate and obesity) of the animals that interfere with healing after the installation of osseointegrated implants. For this, 120 rats will be divided into 6 groups (16 animals on each) and evaluated into two experimental periods (15 and 45 days). Groups will be divided according to the type of the implant that will be installed on the animals tibia and their systemic complications: Hydrophilic/Healthy Group: systemic health animals, installation of implant with surface modified by blasting and acid attack immerse on Sodium Chloride solution; Hydrophobic/Healthy Group: systemic health animals, installation of implant with surface by blasting and acid attack; Hydrophilic/Obese Group: obese animals, installation of implant with surface modified by blasting and acid attack immerse on Sodium Chloride solution; Hydrophobic/Obese Group: obese animals, installation of implant with surface modified by blasting and acid attack; Hydrophilic/Alendronate Group: animals using Alendronate, installation of implant with surface modified by blasting and acid attack immerse on Sodium Chloride solution; Hydrophobic/Alendronate Group: animals using Alendronate, installation of implant with surface modified by blasting and acid attack. The following analysis will be done: biomechanics (against implants removal torque), histometric (evaluating the bone contact with the implants and the bone formation area between the threads), bone formation analysis (fluorochrome - Calcein and Alizarin), microtomography (evaluating the bone area around the implants), immunohistochemistry (bone morphogenetic protein (BMP-2), alkaline phosphatase protein (AP) and osteocalcin (OCN) protein expression), protein expression using mass spectrometry.
