Abstract

The educational literature is emphatic in defending that learning is conditioned to an active attitude of the student and to a teaching content in which the student recognizes its meaning to understand the world around him and how to intervene in it in a critical, supportive and active way. The inquiry approach is the subject of research by several Brazilian and foreign researchers and has already demonstrated its potential for student education. Academic research itself shows that changes in teachers' pedagogical practice do not occur easily. The hypothesis explored in this proposal to seek to overcome this difficulty in implementing academic research in the reality of basic education and in public schools, in particular, is to strengthen the acting teacher and train the future teacher, both engaged in prioritizing student learning and integral development of the individual. From a professional development group, ten themes are proposed in relation to strategic research axes as a source of studies and research by teachers of basic education. The interaction between the university and basic education has existed since 2016 from school visits to the university's research laboratories and the group of professors has interacted fortnightly since 2021 and has the potential to develop this proposal. Using the Theory of Self-Determination as a theoretical framework, it is expected to evaluate the contribution of professional development groups to the motivation of teachers and students of basic education.
