EMU scientific: acquisition of a 400 MHz equipment and a 600 MHz console: modernization and expansion of the multi-user NMR center focused on small molecule studies

Abstract

NMR spectroscopy is the first-choice technique for unequivocal structural assignment of organic, organometallic, and inorganic material in solution as well as in solid state. Besides that, NMR is widely applied to evaluate the dynamics of molecules in solution, as a tool in drug discovery to establish the binding site of study molecules in a target protein, to determine the stability of new material (polymers, ionic liquids, catalysts, etc.), to evaluate the profile of chemical reaction and so on. To achieve all these applications, it is necessary to work with state-of-art in term of NMR spectrometers to allow us to improve the quality of analysis reducing time, costs, and amount of sample used. The implementation of new methodologies in NMR spectrometers available in the current literature is only possible whether we are using the last version of consoles (electronic devices) available in the market. Since we are also interested in developing new methodologies and spread this worldwide, we must work at the state-of-art in terms of equipment. (AU)
