Development and implementation of new methods of study of the accommodation and control of the stomach. Applications in investigations of the physiology and physiopathology of motility

Abstract

The study of gastric motility was, for a long time, undertaken only by invasive methods. But recently, non-invasive methods have been used, such as ultrasound, conventional scintillography, single photon emission tomography and nuclear magnetic resonance. Within an active group of the study of Digestive Motility, interest emerged in the implantation of these methods, in the introduction of modifications to make them more efficient, as well as the development of other techniques, such as biomagnetic. It is planned, furthermore, to determine the effect of other variables systemic in nature, such as those related to volemic homeostasis, and the relationships between motors dysfunctions of the stomach and the control of appetite and the ingestion of food, mediated by the releasing of neuropeptides, such as PYV, by endocrine cells existing in the distal part of the small intestine.
