Abstract
This research project aims to scientific understanding, development and use of technologies necessary to provide cognitive agents with significant levels of autonomy, perceptual skills and ability to reason, to learn, to solve problems, to adapt and to make decisions, through appropriate formalisms for representing and using knowledge. The following aspects will be explored for achieving this goal: (i) perception, in order to investigate models and methods to transform sensory data into relevant information, to abstract them and represent them into useful knowledge for the agent; (ii) reasoning and learning, in order to explore ways to manipulate and update the knowledge for the efficient solution of complex problems; and (iii) interaction and communication, where these aspects will be studied and further developed for use on networks of cooperative robotic systems, with an ecological approach.
