Dr. Mark A. Vaughan's visit: improvement of the analysis algorithm of the LIDAR and CALIPSO satellite data

Abstract

The researcher Mark Vaughan is the responsible for the development and improvement of the CALIPSO satellite analysis algorithm. The CALIPSO mission is a NASA project to develop a satellite with a Lidar system on board to measures the atmospheric profile in a global scale. His main activity is develop computational tools able to detect aerosol layers and clouds and classify it by type, and also automates the routine analysis. Your visit will be very important in the implementation and consolidation of new analysis routine of the data measures from IPEN's Lidar system, and also the CALIPSO satellite data for the Metropolitan area of São Paulo.
