Abstract
We intend to outline the contours and theoretical practices that support the evaluation initiatives in health in Brazil. We will highlight the process of reintroducing the topic of assessment in the 1990s, as well as models and evaluation processes of programs and services included in the public health sector in Brazil today as our object of study from a few questions: how processed the constitution evaluation of space inside the Brazilian Public Health? Had the reflections and assessment practices constituted a field in Brazil? The benchmark U.S. and those in the country influenced each other, generating new concepts and methodologies in the area? You can map trends in the area in our country? To develop the study, interview a few agents of recognized social prominence in the reintroduction of the theme in Brazil in the 1990s, we analyze the bibliographic production for ten years and documents from associations of Public Health. Attuned to the object of our interest, we will evaluate the current state of the field and its prospects. (AU)
