Abstract

Acinetobacter baumannii is an important pathogen in hospital infections and recently is being involved in clinical reports of carbapenem resistance. The aim of this project is to investigate clones of A. baumannii carbapenem resistant (CRAB) isolated from April to November 2008, from patients of the Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil and to determine the genes responsible for the carbapenem resistance. After PFGE, MLST (Multilocus Sequence Typing) will be performed in order to compare with other in specific data base. The results will contribute to knowledge of CRAB in the hospital involved and relationship with other A. baumannii strains. (AU)
