Abstract

The Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM), State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) comprises one of the units of teaching and research at Unicamp consists of four graduate and nine Postgraduate programs which operate over 2500 students. Over the last 10 years an average of 700 scientific papers per year, indexed in Science Citation Index in its more than 100 research laboratories spread over a wide area covering over 4,000 square meters. Furthermore, a significant number of doctors, masters and undergraduate students are formed as a result of this scientific production. Since 2002 have been trained annually in FCM around 180 masters and 190 doctors.With the expansion of its training capacity and demand for physical space laboratories, the last 15 years there has been an expansion of physical space that currently needs to be expanded and adequate front of increasingly stringent demands of academic production and the level of researchers who work in FCM. The availability of lab area with allocation and multiuser service with equipment that can be used by several researchers is a priority now that the physical space is restricted and requires different research approaches. Thus, the continuous restructuring of data acquisition and logic of FCM / UNICAMP linked to the physical fitness of the search structure, such as the recovery and expansion of the Vivarium maintenance for small and medium animals and deployment and appropriateness of the Research Laboratories of the network Faculty of Medical Sciences - Unicamp object will reforms using resources Technical Book Project. These improvements in the structure of the Faculty research will benefit a significant number of researchers in this unit. The adequacy of the physical structure of space and operational maintenance of animals small and medium- sized targets to enable the continuing qualification and supply of laboratory animals that reflects the demand for quality experimental designs implemented by teachers / researchers of FCM.With this production FCM - UNICAMP stands between the Faculties of Medical Sciences of the most productive country. Significant part of this production comes from experimental studies. These studies require animals in good health conditions for both need good vivariums. (AU)
