Development of strategies of immobilization and use of enzymes as biocatalysis for industrial applications: production of biodiesel and functional ingredients

Abstract

The immobilized lipases provide certain advantages of exploitation in relation to the soluble enzymes, making them more desirable for certain applications, because they provide greater thermal and pH stability, keeping them stable throughout the processo The improvement of the catalytic properties through the use of immobilization techniques, so that making them more stable and less expensive being able to be recovered and reused and therefore saving costs of industrial processo For this reason, this project counts with the collaboration of a group of experts in the enzymatic biocatalysis Research Institute in Food Sciences, belonging to the CSIC, led by Dr. Gloria Fernández Lorente and the group of the Laboratory of Microbiology and Cell Biology at the USP, in Ribeirão Preto, led by Dr. Maria de Lourdes T. M. Polizeli, specialist in the screening of enzymes allows to achieve the goals and challenges that will bring a very large benefit to the laboratories and groups involved. Therefore, this project opens up the possibility of obtaining results publishable in indexed journals of great scientific impact and the possibility of the transfer and technological innovation. So, with the results of this proposal, we hope to contribute to the expansion and consolidation of science and technology studies in the search, and production of enzymes that can have applications in various segments of the industry in general, and in particular on the synthesis and production of biodiesel, in the petro-chemistry industry and in the synthesis of functional foods in the food industry.
