Abstract

The public university as a social institution must propagate inclusive actions, among them the ones aimed at people with disability. However, being part of an economic model that fosters productivity and perfection, the university can corroborate the idea of disability as incapacity tied to a particular disadvantage situation. Currently numerous accomplishments in normative terms can be seen. However, precepts and exclusionary actions are common in relationships and society discourses, sustained in compassion, benevolence, or even grounded in assitentialism, locating the disability strictly in the organism that exhibits it, disregarding the importance of adjustments and changes in the sociocultural context in order to handle the differences. In this sense, the study's objective is: to methodologically refine the survey instrument - Disability Conceptions Scale; to analyze how teachers, students and administrative personnel of a state public university mean topics related to the disability phenomenon. The data will be collected through an electronic application form, filled voluntarily, which will be available via the university's own information system network. Knowing how an academic community manifests itself before a set of statements presenting different conceptions of disability represents a meritorious research proposal, insofar as it will provide perceptual indicators related to a numerically significant population segment,which is still in the vicinity of social spheres, as in the case of public universities, especially in times of affirmative public policies that adopt protective measures in respect for human diversity.
