Abstract

Damage caused to the bone due to heat generation caused by friction during osteotomy for implants has been studied over the years. Literature shows a search in order to control and / or minimize the effects of heat generation that not interfere with the initial healing and posterior osseointegration. Researches in bioengineering area reports the beneficial use of coatings over sharp instruments - among them the DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) and piezoelectric instruments. The purpose of this work is to evaluate in rabbits the effects of the osteotomies for dentristy implants performed by piezoelectric drills or electric motor drills (with passivation surface treatment or carbon-coated). 6 rabbits will be used, who will receive in right tibia conventional electric motor drilling (I -control group), carbon-coated drilling (Group II) and piezoelectric drilling system (Group III). After 60 days of postoperative, the same rabbits will be anesthetized and the same procedure will be held at the left tibia to evaluate the immediate time. Then the animals will be euthanized and the obtained pieces will be processed and analyzed through histometry, immunohistochemistry and microtomography to check the tissue damage in the immediate time and the ability of these cavities in bone formation after 60 days.
