Abstract

Asthma is a complex disease that treatment can lead to physical, emotional and social limitations. For its control, active participation of the patient and their families is needed, in addition to adequate pharmacological treatment. Patient adherence is essential in this process; to occur it is necessary that the bearer has notions about the disease, its triggers and how to avoid them. Patient education is a cornerstone of asthma treatment according to international guidelines and is considered essential for adherence to treatment. This work will be undertaken to evaluate the clinical outcome, functional parameters and inflammatory activity in asthmatic patients undergoing an educational intervention. A study of 80 asthmatics with partly controlled and uncontrolled disease will be held; for both the ACT, ACQ and AQLQ questionnaires will be applied, in addition to the symptom diary (ACD) and Beck Depression Inventory. All patients will undergo measurement of peak flow, spirometry, collection of nitric oxide in exhaled air, air condensate and induced sputum. (AU)
