Influence of cerebellar histaminergic system on motor performance of mice

Abstract

Experimental evidence indicates that the cerebellum is involved in motor and non-motor functions. Since our recent results demonstrated the involvement of the cerebellar histaminergic system in consolidation of emotional memory, this study aims to investigate the actions of the histaminergic neuronal system on performance and motor learning in mice via cerebellar vermis and establish a possible interaction of this system in processing of motor and non-motor functions. The experiments will investigate the dose-dependent effects of histamine microinjected in cerebellar vermis; the effects of microinjection of H1-receptor antagonist (chlorpheniramine); and the effects of microinjection of the H2 receptor antagonist (ranitidine) on anxiety, motor performance and motor learning in mice. For this purpose, we will use open field, elevated plus maze, Rota-rod and balance beam test. Statistical analysis include the homogeneity test and analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by post-hoc appropriate to the experimental design. (AU)
