Use of agroindustrial residues containing substances with biological activity for animal and human feeding

Abstract

USE OF AGROINDUSTRIAL RESIDUES CONTAINING SUBSTANCES WITH BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY FOR ANIMAL AND HUMAN FEEDINGAutores: Elisa Helena Giglio PonsanoThainá Landim de BarrosThiago Luis Magnani GrassiHelenice Aparecida PiresJoselaine de OliveiraFood industry is always trying to reach the society´s demand for food quality and quantity by employing methods that extend shelf life and make them safe, diversified and convenient. Nevertheless, this activity generates industrial residues which claim for proper discharge and so presupposes investment costs. As a way of minimizing environmental impacts and high expenses, the industries engaged with the planet sustainability search for reorientations in the productive processes in order to decrease the residues generation and/or to allow its utilization. The purpose of this research project is to provide scientific information to enables the adoption of techniques for the utilization of solid and liquid residues of the animal food industry, adding them value and allowing their use in animal and human feeding, so bringing benefits for health. Therefore, the project counts on three parts whose proposals are i) direct utilization of fruits processing industries in broilers raising and further formulation and analysis of a meat product; ii) utilization of effluents for the production of microbial biomass to be used in the fish farming and iii) recuperation of proteins form the effluents to be used in food formulation. The possible biological activities of the residues will be investigated in the animals and the possible quality improvement will be investigated in the meat foods. Information arising from the project will certainly be useful for the whole society welfare, from the productive sector until the consumer and, ultimately, for the environment.Key words: Effluents, solid residues, membrane filtration, antioxidant, broilers, tilapia (AU)
