Abstract

The diagnosis of tissue lesions, as well as its direct relationship with its cause has been a challenge for studies on vertebrate animals. In fish this line of thought is little explored due to extensive tissue differences in this group compared with mammals, which have some methodologies already well described and consolidated. One way to understand the evolution of the lesions may be through exposure of a particular specimen to toxic agents, since the development of any diseases is directly related to the dopant concentration and exposure time. Therefore, this project aims to identify lesions in fish liver of the species Astyanax altiparanae caused by microcystin toxin (common in eutrophication events), through the creation and / or adaptation of morphological techniques. Such methodologies will allow us to not only view but also understand the formation and progression of lesions in an attempt that can get specific biomarkers that can be applied in the field. (AU)
