Abstract

The development of technology has led to changes in journalism throughout its history. From the end of twentieth century, the expansion of the Internet, the emergence of multimedia, the convergence of different media, the spread of social networks and mobile phones have propelled the knowledge of journalism, redesigning professional skills, agents of journalistic production process and business models. Some newspapers, magazines and radio and television journalism programs ceased to exist on. Some migrated to the Internet and, even so, are scarcely able to survive. A new paradigm of journalism is sprouting. The research project: Technological Innovation and scientific knowledge in Journalism aims to discuss the repercussions of technological innovation on the production, namely on the journalistic work process, knowledge and management, including all the parties involved. The corpus of the research is limited to the newsroom of the newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo, in particular the staff working directly with the Internet, social networks, web and mobile news. The theoretical discussion is based on the principles and work processes, mobile journalism, web journalism, convergence journalism and knowledge in journalism. This study highlights the relevance of the technological innovations as they equip journalism in order that it can better play its role in a society changing every day more quickly. (AU)
