A study about the intellectual property system at USA and the operation of the USPTO: valuation and technology transfer on health area of UNIFESP

Abstract

This research project is inserted in the Fapesp / USPTO call under the Support Program for Intellectual Property (PAPI) in training mode, phase 1. The objective of the research is to conduct an exploratory study on the intellectual property system in USA along with the functioning of the US patent Office operations, the USPTO (United States patent and Trademark Office), to build a methodology for valuation and transfer of its technologies intended for the health area, traditional focus of Unifesp activity. To fulfill the aim with excellence, it is necessary to request FAPESP support to participate in the Seminar on Intellectual Property Law and Technology Transfer, to be held in the United States in October 2016. The methodology of the project consists of a qualitative and exploratory study. As expected results, there is an analytical report on the US intellectual property system and the USPTO operations. In addition, a pilot-project of the technologies of Unifesp in the area of health and the selection a technology for international integration strategy with its own investment or with partners. (AU)
