Abstract

The carnosine has been considered to have a relevant role in intramuscular buffering during exercise, increasing the muscle buffering capacity around 12% to 17% in fast contraction muscle fiber. However, the carnosine synthesis on muscle tissue is limited by ²-alanine amino acids availability. In recent studies with ²-alanine supplementation have been reported the increase of performance during anaerobic efforts, evidencing the possible effect of ²-alanine supplementation during exercise. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of ²-alanine supplementation associated with high-intensity interval training on performance, muscular buffering capacity and enzymes of glycolysis pathway, and and on occurrence of central and peripheral fatigue process during repeated sprints.
