Abstract

The project aims to investigate optical properties of nanostructures of III-V semiconductors focusing, in particular, single photon sources. The importance of the single photon source is its application in information and quantum computing. In this project, therefore, we intend to contribute in this area investigating nanostructured semiconductors, in particular, quantum dots, which are one of well known single photon source. We will investigate two systems: first is the InAsP quantum dot inserted into the InP nanowire grown by the vapor-liquid-solid method, and the second is the strain-free epitaxial GaAs/AlGaAs quantum dot. Both systems are placed into the optical microcavity to amplify optical emission. The study includes the development of light emitting materials, optical characterization and the study of the exciton-photon interaction, which involves the coupling of electromagnetic radiation with excitons. From this project we intend to acquire scientific and technological knowledge by developing single photon sources and to know their main properties. (AU)
