PRIMARY HEALTH CARE INTER-SECTOR NETWORK TO COPE WITH SOCIAL INEQUALITIES IN THE TERRITORIES

Abstract

The general objective of this research project is to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the Primary Health Care Inter-Sector Network implementation, involving health sectors, social work directed to cope with poverty and social inequality in areas with high indexes of social vulnerability, based on the perceptions of healthcare and social workers from PHC and managers of health and social work. Data collection techniques for this exploratory study include in depth-semi-structure interviews, focus groups, and analysis of sociodemographic and social vulnerability. The study setting includes the Primary Health Care Services and CRAS 2(Social Work Reference Centers 2) from the North of Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil, and the Departments of Health and Social Work. The participants will include professionals working in the PHC services and CRAS from the region selected, the heads of services, the PHC coordinator from the Municipal Department of Health in Ribeirão Preto and the coordinator of the Department of Basic Social Protection of Ribeirão Preto, SP, Department of Social Work. Data regarding the demographic census of 2010 provided by IBGE will be used for the sociodemographic characterization of the areas listed in the North District. Data from the qualitative stage (focal groups and interviews) will be analyzed according to the Critical Hermeneutics of Jürgen Habermas based on his Theory of Communicative Action. Data regarding the sociodemographic analysis will be analyzed through statistics and the categorization areas of vulnerability. (AU)
