Abstract

The availability of formal instruments for the evaluation and diagnosis in the Speech Therapy area is scarce in Brazil, especially when the assessment of pre-school age children is concerned. Observing that the number of instruments for language evaluation is already limited in a general sense, the scenario gets even worse when the procedures are aimed at providing the evaluation of morphosyntax. The main purpose of this project is to build, validate and standardize instruments for the evaluation of morphosyntax. Two instruments will be subjected to this process: the TSA - Test de Sintaxis de Aguado, which was translated and adapted to the Brazilian Portuguese language and the PAM - Protocolo de Avaliação Morfossintática. To verify the validity of criteria of the TSA in Portuguese, the test will be applied to groups of children with different language disorders. Upon data collection, the TSA test will be reviewed according to the number of items it possesses. A group of 500 children, with ages ranging from 3 to 7, will be selected for the test standardization. On the other hand, the PAM protocol will be validated according to its content and criteria, since it is a designed test. The content validity will be verified by the Content Validity Index (CVI), which measures the percentage of professionals who show agreement when judging if an instrument is adequate or not to what it proposes. Just as the TSA, the PAM protocol will be applied to groups of children with different language disorders to verify the validity of criteria. The children must be in the age group designated by the protocol, which ranges from 30 to 54 months. For the application of the protocol, a sample of spontaneous speech will be obtained by means of the interaction of each child with his examiner-researcher in a school or clinical setting. In order to obtain the reference values for the PAM protocol, 25 children with typical language development will be selected. This study aims to provide two distinct instruments for the evaluation of morphosyntax in children with language constraints and disorders. (AU)
